Hyland is in Kindergarten and he’s getting big so far!
Hyland and his mom shared on Instagram;
“KINDERGARTEN. 💙
Tell me how we got here?
The last time I was bringing a child to Kindergarten for the first time, you were barely a flutter in my tummy. And now I’ve blinked and you’re basically a grown man.
I only kid, but when I thought about this moment over the years, it was hard to imagine that one day you’d be THIS grown. I definitely never envisioned that you’d already be holding down your first job BEFORE going to Kindergarten. Talk about a time swap! But this is the place you’ve been waiting for, despite all the other amazing experiences you’ve had in your young life thus far. This one takes the cake.
I’m still processing what this means. It doesn’t matter that you already have an extensive and very ‘colourful’ vocabulary, that, as a math whiz, you can compute numbers better than most adults, or that you know almost everything there is to know about dinosaurs. It doesn’t matter that you’re ‘not even afraid of ghosts’, that you’re ‘a big boy’ and can do it all by yourself, that you ‘already know that’, and that my kisses give you ‘dirty germs’…you’re still my baby. You know this.
I’m not sure what kind of sorcery this is, this ‘growing up’ business. It’s just the hands of time working their magic I suppose. It’s what’s supposed to happen. My little boy is becoming. And he gets to ‘become’ both within walls and beyond them, to grow his imagination in libraries and forests alike. To run wild amid the trees and to focus in when the moment calls.
And he’s so ready. He’s been waiting. He’s overjoyed at the thought of playing and learning, of discovering new things about the world and all its life forms.
Baby boy, if you ever forget who you are, if the instructions and the blueprints churned out on the assembly line start to confuse you, or if the voices of others suddenly become louder than your own, I’ll always help you find your way back to you. You’re the brilliant and curious class clown, the joyful, sassy and silly kid with the big personality and the heart of gold. You’re soulful and brave. Nothing slips past you and everything excites you. Now, it’s finally your turn my boy: look up at the sky, think happy thoughts, and fly baby, fly. 🦋”

Congratulations Hyland!
Inspired by Janette Oke’s bestselling book series about the Canadian West, “When Calls the Heart” follows the story of a young schoolteacher and single mother, Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow), in the quaint town of Hope Valley. When her husband is suddenly killed on duty, she must find the courage and strength to move forward. With the help and guidance of the townspeople and her friends, she adjusts to the ever-changing times and the people that enter her life.
Other central characters include Rosemary Coulter (Pascale Hutton), Elizabeth’s best friend, the town’s loveable busybody once described as “part Broadway showgirl, part Frontier woman,” and her patient husband, the upstanding businessman Leland Coulter (Kavan Smith). Judge Bill Avery (Jack Wagner) works hard to protect the town and to cement his position as Hope Valley’s ultimate authority. Fairly new to the community are Mountie Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry) and saloon owner Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally), who both vie for the attention of Elizabeth. With the added pressure on deciding between her suitors, writing a novel and taking care of her son, Elizabeth continues to teach the children of Hope Valley all while trying to navigate the challenges in her life.
